Our Authenticity & Condition Process: How a Watch Becomes LU-Verified

At LU Watches, we understand that purchasing a luxury timepiece is a matter of heritage, precision, and — most importantly — trust. Authenticity and condition are more than just checkboxes to us. They are a reflection of the integrity we owe to our clients and the legacy of the watches we handle.

Every timepiece that enters our care undergoes a comprehensp verification and inspection process at the LU Professional Services Center in Jeddah, led by our Swiss-certified watchmakers and supported by cutting-edge diagnostic tools. Here’s how a watch earns the status of LU-Verified:

1. Packaging & Documentation Authentication

Authentication begins with a thorough examination of all accompanying materials. Our team inspects the original box, warranty card, manuals, receipts, and accessories to ensure every component is genuine and matches the watch’s origin.

2. Visual & Structural Inspection

The watch is then visually assessed. Our watchmakers evaluate the dial, case, hands, crystal, crown, and bracelet for originality, modifications, or telltale signs of tampering. Serial numbers and reference details are cross-checked against known databases and manufacturer records.

3. Movement Verification & Diagnostics

Using equipment from Bergeon and Witschi, our team opens the caseback to verify the movement’s authenticity. We identify brand-specific engravings, architecture, and mechanical signatures. Each movement is tested for accuracy, amplitude, and power reserve to ensure it’s operating within factory standards.

4. Comparison with Replica References

To further guarantee authenticity, we maintain a reference library of replica watches. Our watchmakers use this archive to compare case construction, fonts, movement layout, and finishing techniques — allowing us to detect even the most advanced counterfeits.

5. Stone and Metal Testing

For watches featuring diamonds or gemstones, we perform in-house gemological testing using specialized equipment to verify the quality, cut, and authenticity of each stone. When applicable, we also test the precious metals (such as gold or platinum) to confirm purity and match the stated specifications — key elements that significantly affect the value of a timepiece.

6. Authentication Report & Disclaimer

Each LU-Verified watch comes with a formal authentication and condition report. Please note the following disclaimer included in the report:
